My Commitment to the Community
Committed to advocacy, results, and transparency for Texarkana ISD students.
Advocacy
Effectively advocating for students begins by making sure each student has access to strong academic programs, safe learning environments, and a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities that prepare them for life after graduation. When we prioritize students' needs, we make a direct investment in our community, but most importantly the student.
Our teachers and staff also excel when they have strong advocates. Without dedicated employees who pour into students and their jobs each day our schools will not succeed. If we want to improve academic results we must start with providing our teachers and employees with the resources, respect, and professional support they deserve.
Finally, a true advocate represents the entire community. We must make sure decisions reflect the values our community shares and the unique needs of our diverse district. We do this by listening to parents, taxpayers, educators, business leaders, and students from all areas of our community.
Results
We must ensure that every student is challenged, supported, and makes measurable progress each year. A strong foundation beginning at the elementary level and continuing through middle and high school builds confidence and positive results as students progress through the district.
Students and staff deserve safe schools where they can focus on learning without fear or distraction. Secure and supportive schools foster respect, accountability, and the well-being necessary for both academic and personal success.
Whether students choose higher education, military service, trade school, or directly enter the workforce after high school, every student must graduate equipped with the knowledge, skills, and character to succeed.
Transparency requires open communication. Our families, staff, and community members need to be meaningfully engaged in the decisions that impact our students. To encourage engagement, they must feel their voices and concerns are heard.
A district is financially accountable to the taxpayers. Funds must be managed responsibly and with thoughtful stewardship that maximizes resources for student and teacher success.
District leadership and administrators must be visible, approachable, and willing to listen. When community members and employees can easily and comfortably share their perspectives, a culture of trust, collaboration, and shared responsibility is created which will lead to the success of our schools.
